I am an assistant professor in Computer Science at the Interactions Research Group, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. My research sits at the intersection of distributed systems and artificial intelligence: I engineer open multi-agent systems. I focus on the architectures, abstractions, and distributed infrastructures that enable autonomous agents to operate in environments that evolve continuously and are not controlled by any single system designer—and to do so in an efficient, reliable, and accountable manner.

Over the past decade, I have developed architectural foundations for hypermedia multi-agent systems (hMAS), which adapt principles of Web architecture to support open, large-scale, and long-lived systems of autonomous agents. This line began during my doctoral research, with early work receiving the Best Paper Award at IoT 2016. I later tested the approach in a research prototype for industrial manufacturing during a six-month research visit at Siemens Corporate Technology in Berkeley, California. My current work builds on these foundations through research on distributed hypermedia environments, cognitive architectures for language agents, discovery and enactment of declarative interaction protocols, and computational accountability.

I have also helped shape an international research agenda on autonomous agents on the Web by co-organizing and coordinating Dagstuhl Seminar 21072, Dagstuhl Seminar 23081, and by co-founding and currently co-chairing W3C WebAgents Community Group.

Beyond research, I am a founding member of the Romanian Association for Artificial Intelligence (ARIA), where I served on the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2016.

In a previous life, I was a skydiver and performance athlete with the Romanian Aeroclub, and I also hold a skydiving license from the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
